XXXTentacion is a Problem With a Problematic Video

Despite the transcript of his ex-girlfriend’s account to the police about his violent abuse being released just a few days ago, XXXTentacion has decided to continue building on his reputation as being a violent and controversial person who also raps. This time, he’s released a self-written, self-directed music video for his breakthrough single “Look At Me.” The video depicts XXX jumping a teacher and soon after, hanging himself, all while incorporating footage of police killings. Then somehow things get darker. XXX brings two young boys, one black and one white, in front of a noose and chooses to hang the white boy.

Despite these visuals being shocking, they aren’t out of character for XXXTentacion. The ending of the video, however, becomes an acapella segment where XXX attempts to speak out against supremacists of all races. While some of his lyrics during this segment may have a positive impact, they do not make up for the videos of him fighting fans or threatening to rape little sisters or the scenes in this same video where he hangs a child. The guy is a monster.
