NYC Legends Roll Out For Westside Gunn and Conway’s Sold Out NYC Gig

Last week, Buffalo, New York’s hardest spitting MCs, Westside Gunn and Conway, came downstate to play a sold out gig at Webster Hall in Manhattan. Yesterday, Griselda Records shared some dope concert footage from that performance, which features a collection of NYC hip hop legends.

New York City was the first stop on Westside Gunn and Conway’s Griselda on Steroids tour, and what a way to start it off! Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Raekwon, Styles P and Jadakiss were just some of the rap royalty that showed up to support the gig.

Of course, being part of the newer wave of hardcore New York rap, Westside Gunn and Conway also invited some of their contemporaries. The incredible Strong Island MC, Roc Marciano, pulled up to perform his verse from “Rex Ryan” off of Gunn’s 2015 project Reject 2. From Queens, Action Bronson’s righthand man, Meyhem Lauren, was there along with Smoke DZA.

It almost seemed as if there was a diplomat from every hood in the state of New York at this gig. And that says a lot about what Westside Gunn and Conway are doing for Buffalo—and Western New York overall. Bernadette Price, the wife of Duck Down Records’ late great Sean Price, was even on stage. Gunn performed “Black Tar,” the song he recorded with Price as a tribute to the Brownsville legend.

“I talked to Sean P on his last day on earth man and that shit meant a lot to me,” Gunn told the crowd.”I’m never going to forget that conversation.”

Check out the rest of Westside Gunn and Conway’s tour dates below.
