Watch the Extended Trailer for ‘Dope’ Starring A$AP Rocky
A coming of age drama for the post hip hop generation.
We last reported that Dope, the coming of age drama for the post hip hop generation, was premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and now it’s been confirmed the film will arrive in theaters June 19. The film scored one of the highest-profile bidding wars of the festival this year—the deal is reportedly worth $7 million in minimum guarantee with a $15 million print and advertising budget.
In case you aren’t familiar, the Rick Famuyiwa-directed film follows the story of a ’90s hip hop geek named Malcolm, who is trying to make it out of his crime-filled neighborhood of Inglewood, CA and enroll at Harvard University. The film stars Kimberly Elise, Zoë Kravitz, Chanel Iman, Keith Stanfield, Blake Anderson, and A$AP Rocky in his theatrical debut.
