Watch Kid Cudi Take You on One Trippy, Wild Ride in His New Video, “The Frequency”

Kid Cudi, as promised, has continued to tease his new album, Passion, Pain and Demon Slayin’, despite his willful admission to a mental health facility this month. Today, he takes his longing fans on a wild ride in a new video for “The Frequency.”

“The Frequency” was one of a handful of songs released shortly after Cudi announced that Demon Slayin’ had to be delayed passed 9/30 due to sample clearance issues. The video, which is also directed by Cudi, portrays the Cleveland native in a comfortable environment: a hazy, lo-fi atmosphere soundtracked by his woozy vocals.

Cudi’s Facebook letter describing his struggles with mental health and “suicidal urges” has opened up a larger conversation about mental health in both the black and hip hop communities. Hopefully his diligence is a beacon of light for those with similar struggles.
