PREMIERE: Thirstin Howl The 3rd ft. Prodigy “Skillmatic”

After expanding his personal brand into publishing—his coffee table book Bury Me With The Lo On is now in its second printing—Lo Life General Thirstin Howl 3rd is right back where we need him to be, in the studio flexing those lyrical skills. Yep, he’s still at it—and still nice with it.

Next week the Brownsville BK native will drop his eleventh (count em!) studio album, Skillmatic on his own Skillionaire Enterprises imprint. Much like the Nasir Jones release to which it pays homage, this joint is on point.

Today MASS APPEAL proudly premieres the title track from Howl’s forthcoming opus. Prodigy of Mobb Deep rides shotgun on “Skillmatic” as the battle-tested bards have their way with an appropriately ominous beat concocted by Will Tell.

“I met Prodigy at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival a few years back,” TH3 says of the Don P link. “We started the conversation about working on a track together. A few months later he was performing in Miami and I rolled to his show. After his set, we rolled to my studio and I played him the beat and we wrote and recorded it old school, right on the spot.”

As the hook predicts, “gonna be a lotta dead rappers.” Check the technique up top.
