Top Prospects: The Underachievers

The BEAST Coast is coming . . .

You already know about members of the collective like Flatbush ZOMBIES and Joey Bada$$’s Pro Era crew but The Underachievers are their secret weapon. For the first installment of “Top Prospects,” our column that spotlights up-and-coming artists, we turn our attention to UA.

The duo, comprised of Issa Dash and Ak, add a philosophical element to the turnt up trippiness and youthful energy of their counterparts.

Referencing everything from Hinduism to Kemetic science they’re the type of people who’re as proud of their book collections as some kids are of their sneaker collections.

We like their music because beyond a “look” and cool videos they’ve got bars. Songs like “So Devilish” display their gift for switching up flows without compromising content.

Flying Lotus seems to agree, he recently signed The Underachievers to his Brainfeeder label so expect big things from the duo including the release of their INDIGOISM project later this month.
