PREMIERE: Spuf Don “Fuego” Video

There has been a lot of youg’ns throwing shade at older heads in hip hop lately—and vice versa. The media likes to play up this rift between artists (and we aren’t exempt), but in truth, it’s dudes who have been through it and still have that ear that tend to take the next gen under wing. Case in point, N.O. Joe, a quintessential Down South producer best known for his work on Scarface’s classic albums, has been guiding Houston’s rising star Spuf Don through the treacherous industry.

To be accurate, Spuf (which stands for Superior People Understand Fashion) is actually from a city just outside of Houston. Anyways, Joe managed to get this 20-something rapper/producer placement on Scarface’s well-received 2015 project Deeply Rooted. In fact, he was one of only two beat-miners who placed three tracks on Face’s latest release. Then, with the help of Joe again, Spuf dropped his versatile debut, The Element of Surprise, last summer.

Today MASS APPEAL is treating your eyes and ears to the zany world of “Fuego.” This video is what would happen if you took a kid’s morning routine of cartoons, campy kids’ shows, and sugary cereal, and put it all on acid. This is 3+ minutes of bright colors, animated weed nugs, sock puppets, T&A, and plenty of gas. As Spuf says of the cut: “This is not just your typical song about weed, money, ass and cereal.” You know you want to check it out now.
