Black Milk Teams Up with Artist Sanford Green for New ‘1000’ Trailer
Catch "1,000 acts of repentance" every Thursday
Sanford Greene, the comic book artist behind the critically acclaimed recent run on Marvel’s Power Man & Iron Fist, is currently taking some time off from drawing comics as a main artist at Marvel, focussing on his own fantasy property 1000. Finally, readers can dive into the story he started developing years ago.
Along with his now-deceased friend James Bruce Brown, Greene began working on the characters and world of 1000, but plans for a fully realized publication never panned out. “When he passed away, I was left with the concept, but I think that was when I was more determined than ever, to get something out,” Greene told MASS APPEAL.
LINE Webtoon started the series earlier this month, and is already five episodes in. They’ve also released a spectacular animated trailer for the project, directed by LD Walker and soundtracked by Black Milk. The website gives the following description for the online comic series itself:
Set in a modern world of aliens, warlocks, zombies, and ancient beasts, “1000″ follows Dragon Son— a supreme entity who’s abandoned all creation as he struggles to return to his true Dragon form by completing 1,000 acts of repentance. Son is joined by five other agents charged with secretly policing the world and keeping civilization from crumbling completely. No big deal!
“The main character, Dragon Son, he is the lynchpin to something greater. The reason we call it 1000 is he has to perform a thousand acts of penance, to return to his true form”, Greene explained in our in-depth interview. “As he goes about this, will he gain something greater, or will he not? There’s no guarantee.”
New episodes of 1000 launch on LINE Webtoon weekly on Thursdays.
