Remembering Prodigy Through His Music

When news spread yesterday of Prodigy’s death, timelines were flooded with lines from the infamous Queens MC. No florid tributes were necessary, Prodigy’s power and pain were there in his own words.

“There’s a war goin’ on outside no man is safe from.”

“I’m only 19, but my mind is older.”

“I put my lifetime in between the paper’s lines.”

Like many of you, we’ve been memorializing the man born Albert Johnson by listening to his music and by reciting the lines of one of hip hop’s most quotable MCs. Though it represents just a fraction of the contributions he made to music for over 20 years, MASS APPEAL has put together this playlist of Mobb Deep tracks, solo joints and guest appearances to remember Prodigy.
