Q-Tip Says He and A Tribe Called Quest “Don’t Intend On Stopping”

Q-Tip pleasantly surprised the music world in October when he announced the imminent release of a new, original A Tribe Called Quest album, complete with original verses from Phife Dawg, who worked on the album, We Got It From Here…Thank you 4 Your Service, from December of 2015 up until his dying day in March. The album went on to debut at #1; their final LP–according to Q-Tip at the time–had been executed flawlessly.

According to Q-Tip this month, however, ATCQ’s window isn’t as shut as some might think. During an interview with BBC Radio 1 host Annie Mac last night, Tip alluded to the fact that Tribe is ready for another run. “Stay tuned for any other incarnation because we don’t intend on stopping,” said Q-Tip, who once claimed that ATCQ would be over after a potential world tour. “After that, that’s it for the rest of our lives,” he told Billboard in November. During his conversation with Annie Mac, however, Tip’s tone was markedly different. He continued on to say, “That was Phife’s M.O., ‘this time we gotta do it and keep going.’ He’s left us with the equation of how do we do it, but we’re going to need it, and we’re going to continue.”

He didn’t elaborate further, but that tidbit is enough to prop that window way back open.
