Pusha T Sweet Serenade featuring Chris Brown

G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T invites fellow Virginia-native Chris Brown to croon on his latest single, “Sweet Serenade.”

This has all the elements of a smooth club banger — Swizzy on the beat and Chris on the hook. The only problem is when I listen to Pyrex P, I don’t want to hear smooth club bangers, I want to hear that crinack! The artwork with the alligator is dope as f*ck, and I get it; the juxtaposition between a luxurious lifestyle and a gritty street one. Please don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the song is bad, it’s just not what I want. I need that in-depth-coke-dealer-don’t-give-a-f*ck-about-selling-drugs-to-your-momma Pusha. I know that was a lot, but once upon a time I remember watching a segment on MTV News where Pusha quotes Kanye telling him, “If you die and hear your music, you know you ended up in hell, right.” Well if that is the case, then honestly this sounds more like a party in purgatory.

Listen to “Sweet Serenade” below, and let me know if you’re feeling the track. After a drink or two in the club, I might just come around.
