Pusha T’s Rhythm Roulette Producer Contest

Round 1 of Pusha T’s Rhythm Roulette contest has ended. Stay tuned for details on the next round!

Hip hop and EDM are cousins, dating back their ’70s New York roots. Both genres have played key roles in the development of remix culture, thanks in part to their heavy use of sampling and breakbeats.

Pusha T, known for thinking out of the box, is taking this relationship a step further, inviting any style of producer to submit their remixes, edits or sample-based heat to his “Rhythm Roulette” producer contest — for the chance to do an exclusive track with King Push!

Trap, hip-hop, moombahton, dubstep, future-bass, deep house, nu disco. It’s all good.

Curated by Pusha, Mass Appeal and a panel of judges from Decon, Fool’s Gold, Mad Decent, Software, True Panther, Fade to Mind, Owsla and Mom + Pop — finalists will also get major shine from top names in indy music.

The comp is made possible by Legitmix, technology that enables remixers and the artists they sample to get credited and paid.

Pick the best sample-based instrumental, mashup, edit or remix that showcases your production style.

EDM producers: don’t worry about making your work rap-friendly. This round is all about showcasing stand-alone production.

Hip-hop producers: show you can make a sample live without a rapper on it. Think Clams Casino, Araab Muzik or Pete Rock instrumentals.

Finalists will have their music showcased by the judges from the curating labels. So your submission SHOULD BE STAND ALONE WORK YOU CAN LISTEN TO ON ITS OWN, without Pusha rapping over it. Don’t worry: finalists will get the chance to retool their work to leave room for Pusha’s rhymes, or even submit a whole new track

Each of the finalists will then get to submit a sample-based-beat of their choosing (either by making a new beat, or by making their submitted track hip-hop friendly). The winner will be credited on a single released by Pusha exclusively on Legitmix.

1) Submit your track to Pusha’s Legitmix page. Any Style. Any Sample in iTunes: http://legitmix.com/discovery/crate/5
