PREMIERE: Redeyes, “100 Porsches To The Stars” Video f/ Hus Kingpin
"I'm just trying to get you on my wave, mama, nothin' extra"
If you were a fan of drum & bass in the late ’00s, you are likely familiar with Julien Salvi, aka Redeyes. While France was not a huge contributor to the genre, this DJ-turned-producer dropped coveted projects and remixes with labels including Vandal, Innerground, Bingo, Brownwood and more. But if you were to ask Salvi what music he identifies with, the answer would be hip hop. What he’s making these days bridges the gap between the two sounds.
To close out this sunny summer week, MASS APPEAL is giving you the first listen to Redeyes’ new single, “100 Porsches To The Stars” and premiering its video. Less than two minutes long, this joint consists of one verse from Hus Kingpin and some fresh scratches, but it will have you jumping to hit “replay” before YouTube can take you elsewhere. The production is no more than a hard drum loop occasionally accentuated by hushed piano plinks, but that’s plenty for Hus to outline his recent dealings with dimes. The video for the track finds the MC chilling on the streets of Downtown LA as the city buzzes all around him.
“100 Porsches To The Stars” is off Redeyes’ upcoming Blueprints EP, which drops on The North Quarter on July 28.
