Premier : Marco Polo, DJ Premier and Talib Kweli Celebrate “G.U.R.U.”

On 4-19-2013 Marco Polo honored the three-year anniversary of Guru’s passing by releasing a dedication, “G.U.R.U.,” f/ Talib Kweli & DJ Premier to his memory and a celebration of his life, legacy and all of the vast accomplishments and great music Guru and DJ Premier gave us.

When dropping it Marco mentioned, “This is one of the most important records I’ve ever been a part of . Thank you to Talib Kweli and DJ Premier for being a part of this incredible record! Please help share this record and celebrate the life of an artist who influenced me and so many others in Hip-Hop and music period! R.I.P. Keith Edward Elam aka G.U.R.U. (Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal)!”

“G.U.R.U.” not only went viral in a day, but also clearly resonated with the late MC’s friends and family as they offered up their support for the track, as Trish Elam (Guru’s Sister) commented “The Elam family is so deeply grateful that Guru is being honored three-years after his death. He wanted to be remembered and to do so in such a magnanimous way is so monumental to us. This is the dream and the legacy that he would have wanted and we are so appreciative of that. These are the words that he manifest.”
