PREMIERE: Logan Cage “3 Man Weave” ft. Stro and Femdot
"It's just us three passin' the mic to one another just spittin' hot shit."
While New York and Los Angeles have forever been the meccas of hip hop, Chicago continually reminds us that it won’t be left out—especially now, as Chance the Rapper continually pushes the boundaries of what it means to be an independent artist. Indeed, he’s done a lot for his city, and for unsigned and emerging artists everywhere.
Many rappers have been bred from Chicago’s rebirth (which we also have to largely thank Chance for), and among them is Logan Cage, whose sound is pegged by a gritty delivery and genuine street-wise lyricism. He taps fellow Chicago rapper Femdot and New York spitter Stro for his latest track “3 Man Weave,” which we are premiering below.
Created by Logan’s main beatsmith Flight, the three emcees ride over boom bap-esque production, supported by eerie synths and hi-hats in the background. “It’s a play on the basketball play ‘3 Man Weave,'” Logan says of the song, laughing. “It’s just us three passin’ the mic to one another just spittin’ hot shit.”
“3 Man Weave” will appear on Logan’s forthcoming EP Still Iconic, a title that’s as much a nod to his hometown as it is to himself.
