Jimetta Rose

PREMIERE: Jimetta Rose “The Light Bearer” LP

It’s time for the rest of us to be up on what the LA scene has known for a while: Jimetta Rose got next. The easiest way I can think to describe her is a songstress with jazz singer chops but hip hop sensibilities. And even if you aren’t familiar with Ms. Rose yet, you are surely well aware of her collaborator on her new project, the prolific Georgia Anne Muldrow. Together the songbird and musician/producer have crafted nine tracks of earthy, organic funk topped with soothing melodies and spoken word titled The Light Bearer. Jimetta calls it a mini-LP, but trust me; when you bump this joint, you won’t feel short changed.

Having worked with established names like Anderson .Paak, Bilal, Blu, and Shafiq Husayn (SA-RA Creative Partners), it should be clear that she has her peers’ respect. And did I mention, this album is being released on Busdriver’s Temporary Whatever label? Yep, this soul sister is deeply rooted in the South Central sound and this collection of songs should give you a good idea where that sound is headed.

Below we share with you a full album stream of The Light Bearer. You are welcome.

The Light Bearer drops this Friday, but you can pre-order the album here.
