I Ced

PREMIERE: I, Ced “I Am Love” ft. Jimetta Rose

St. Louis’ soulsmith I, Ced is back to mellow your 9-5 days and cool out the summer’s hot nights. A regular collaborator of hard-to-pin-down musical acts like Hawthorne Headhunters, Thundercat, and SA-RA Creative Partners, I, Ced also strives to defy categorization. Yes, his music is soulful, that much is obvious upon first listen. But a further look at his work will reveal influences as diverse as ’70s psychedelia, ’80s boogie oogie, and, of course, the trademark funk of his hometown.

Today we have I, Ced’s brand new single, “I Am Love,” featuring Jimetta Rose (who’s album we premiered yesterday!) for you to check out. The chunky bass line, reserved keys, and drum machine percussion provides the perfect backdrop for Jimetta’s light, airy vocals. The cut is culled from his sophomore solo effort What Are We Looking For?, which drops September 23rd on I, Ced’s own MoveNext Media.

You can pre-order What Are We Looking For? on iTunes now.
