PREMIERE: Heltah Skeltah “Midnight Madness” Gets Special Record Store Day Release
Including a remix from Grammy winning producer M-Phazes
Before Sean Price became one of New York’s most beloved (and hated by the meek) emcees, he went by Ruck as one half of the duo Heltah Skeltah. Him and Rock were the east coast antiheroes who could jokingly rap about taking your girl and smashing your face in, in one line. But you didn’t want to test them to see how far the joke went. To remind those who knew better and educate the rest, Coalmine Records is pressing up the previously only digital release of Heltah Skeltah’s “Midnight Madness” for Record Store Day.
The 7″ release with DJ Revolution on the scratches will feature the original on Side A with a remix from M-Phazes on the flip side. The original triumphant beat from Shuko is transformed into a tense mystery film soundtrack by M-Phazes. The record artwork will also feature drawings from Joe Buck who worked in themes from the film Midnight Madness.
