Gesaffelstein Phoenix Bankrupt Remix

Phoenix “Bankrupt” (Gesaffelstein Remix)

French electronic musician and Yeezus contributor Gesaffelstein (don’t worry, we don’t know how to say it either) has just remixed the title track of French band Phoenix’s last album Bankrupt. This follows a number of unlikely collaborations by the band, including remixes and features from R. Kelly and Sleigh Bells.

While the electronic influence in Phoenix’s music is undeniable, particularly in the synth department, Gesaffelstein operates in corners of the electronic world that are much darker. However, the juxtaposition of Phoenix’s bright vocals and Gesaffelstein’s more sinister production makes for a surprisingly good combination, and takes the track in a completely new direction.
