Open Space: Fashawn

Fashawn can feel the progression. From XXL’s Freshman list to a record deal with Nas, the Fresno rapper has had a hell of a ride. He talked about it all in the latest episode of Open Space.

Fashawn’s new EP, Manna, is out today after a hiatus of two years, which can feel like a decade in 2017 time. Fashawn indicates that the breakneck pace of today’s rap game is part of what prompted him to take some time off, but that doesn’t mean he’s in any way rusty. The Mass Appeal Records rapper has flaunted his well-maintained abilities on recent singles “Mother AmeriKKKa” and “Moses,” as well as the Large Professor-produced “Fashawn.”

In his Open Space interview, Fashawn talks about what that final collaboration meant to him. “It’s a dream come true, man. I definitely checked that off the bucket list,” he says. “I’ve been wanting to work with him since ‘It Ain’t Hard to Tell’ with Nas.”

Elsewhere in his interview, Fashawn talks about his Nas co-sign, emulating his brother and more.

If you haven’t heard Fashawn’s new EP, Manna, yet, you can stream it here. Check out his Open Space episode above.
