Odell Beckham Jr.’s Mother Helps Him Go Undercover As a Lyft Driver

Odell Beckham Jr. is a fantastic 3rd-year football player, who will suit up for the first playoff game of his career this weekend when the Giants travel to Lambeau Field to take on the red-hot Green Bay Packers.

None of his NFL prowess was of any help to him in this instance, however, when he went undercover and posed as a Lyft driver for another one of the on-demand taxi company’s hilarious celebrity promo spots. In the clip, which you can watch above, Odell assumes his position in the Lyft car’s driver seat, donning shades and a hat to hide his unmistakable blonde fro-hawk. Whether or not the passengers actually recognized him and played along for the sake of the activity remains a mystery, but the best part of the video has nothing to do with their reactions.

As he makes his rounds, Odell gets a phone call in the middle of a client’s trip, and said client urges him to pick up, pointing out the fact that it was his mother. Surely, Mama Odell forgot that her son was shooting a commercial, and called him to tell him that ESPN anchors were tripping over themselves, criticizing him again for going to that yacht party in Miami.


When Beckham Jr. picks up, Mama Odell plays along perfectly, addressing her son as “J.R.” as she asks him how his day’s going. “I caught about 12 passengers,” Odell replies. Priceless.

Previously, stars like DJ Khaled and Shaq (don’t ask) have gone undercover as Lyft Drivers. We’d really like 21 Savage to do it, though. Issa Lyft.
