N.O.R.E. and Pharrell Williams Connect One More Time For “Uno Más”
"I think you need a 180"
N.O.R.E. and Pharrell have both come a long way since “Super Thug,” the brash street smash that helped launch both artists into stretches of dominance. Now, 19 years later, they reconnect for another heater, taking the party from the streets to the beachside villas on the groovy “Uno Más,” released today via Militainment and Mass Appeal Records.
Despite his street warrior pedigree, Noreaga has always had a flair for the radio hit. (See: “Nothing,” “Oye Mi Canto.’) His tranquil approach on “Uno Más,” complementing the contagious Pharrell bounce that’s given recent albums by 2 Chainz and Vic Mensa a taste of that Neptunes sound, is right at home on P’s island rhythm.
This may be the first time Pharrell and N.O.R.E. have delivered a tropical ballad, but their work together began back in 1998 on the aforementioned “Super Thug.” The Queens rapper didn’t return to the charts until he and Pharrell linked up for “Nothin” four years later. With JAY-Z’s 4:44 and Eminem still touring, this feels like the right time for a classic ’90s tandem to reload the cannons.
