Netflix Announces 3 New Dave Chappelle Comedy Specials

This isn’t another one of those small scale Dave Chappelle comebacks. He’s back for real.

Netflix announced today that three–you read that right, three–new comedy specials are coming exclusively to the TV and film streaming platform. Chappelle recently guest-hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in his career, but made no mention of the forthcoming specials. Per Pitchfork, one of the specials will be an original, exclusive Netflix production, while the other two will be from Chappelle’s “personal comedy vault.” Neither of the three has been seen or released yet.

Since shuttering the wildly successful Chappelle’s Show–the Comedy Central-helmed show that made Chappelle an international star–the marquee comedian has made only occasional public appearances. He did, however, perform a 10-night stand-up residency at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall in 2014. One might say that, for quite some time, Chappelle has been preparing for this return to the taped comedy special stage, where he hasn’t been since 2004’s Dave Chappelle: For What It’s Worth.
