Missy Elliott Joins Aminé For the “REDMERCEDES” Remix

Aminé enjoyed a meteoric 2016 as his hit single “Caroline” tore up radio before peaking a No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Now, with the wind at his back and a stellar late night performance under his belt, Aminé hits the summer with a remix to his first new track of the year, “REDMERCEDES,” featuring  AJ Tracey and the god Missy Elliott.

The original “REDMERCEDES” was already one of Amine’s most popular records, having racked up 7 million views with its hilarious video. Now, the Oregon native receives an assist from Elliott, who blesses the eerily synthesized beat with her flamboyant-yet-sultry style. “You can call me Rick James, I’m Rick, bitch/ Vroom, vroom, vroom in my two-door/ Big body Benz like a sumo,” she raps, sometimes opting for a low-pitched monotone cadence to match the bottoming-out bass.

You can listen to the remix below. This year, Elliott’s acclaimed 1997 debut, Supa Dupa Fly, will be reissued for its 20-year anniversary. Hopefully that inspires her to finally drop her long-awaited comeback album.
