MF DOOM Revives Viktor Vaughn for “Notebook 05″

The Missing Notebook Rhymes, Adult Swim’s latest project with MF DOOM, has been going on for more than a month now, offering new songs from the underground hip hop legend every week. And though Adult Swim’s Jason DeMarco is suffering from some technical difficulties because of Hurricane Irma, we still get a sixth week of new DOOM music. This time the masked MC appears as his alter ego Viktor Vaughn for the less-than-90-seconds “Notebook 05.”

For The Missing Notebook Rhymes, DOOM has already collaborated with Sean Price, Jay Electronica, Alchemist, Kool Keith and Astronote, but this time he rolls solo, barreling through a beat backed by drawn out strings and a moderate drum tempo. “Vaughn got hoes on the stroll who duck rice/ For the buck, a lot of shmucks suck like lice,” he raps nonchalantly.

If you’ve missed any of the previous Missing Notebook Rhymes releases, you can listen to them all via Adult Swim—and feel free to fall for the hype. There will be 15 by the end.

DOOM has adopted several aliases throughout his career, and he last put out music as Viktor Vaughn on 2004’s Venomous Villain. Keep those fingers crossed for a King Dumile revival, or maybe some work from King Geedorah.

Listen to “Notebook 05” below.
