PREMIERE: Magno Garcia ft. King Author & Code 9 “Raise the Conscious” Video

There are a lot of MCs we’ve been planning to introduce y’all to this Fall. But there’s only so many days in a week. So it’s always ideal when we can present various dope artists with one track or video. Sure, whoever’s track it is gets the focus in the write-up but the guest rappers and producer always get at least a mention, and depending on how dope the verse or beat is, maybe more.

All that to say this: when we premiered Boston producer EvillDewer’s video for “Corner Chronicles” on Halloween we were hyping y’all about the bustling hip hop scene in and around Boston. The song featured Haze, Estee Nack, and Magno Garcia all kicking verses that send shivers down other MC’s spines. We gave you a new vid from Haze on Tuesday, and Estee has also got a premiere since then, so you know it was only right that we finally give Garcia his spotlight. Except this is a posse cut once again, featuring cameos from two more ill rappers from this region we’ve been planning to cover: King Author and Code 9. Regardless, let’s start with Magno because it’s his track.

This unassuming lyricist has the voice, cadence, and bars to become a household name. We’re reticent to make any direct comparisons but he is definitely reminiscent of some of New Yorks greats. He is also humble enough to let his guests start and finish the track, comfortable enough to flip the middle verse, and confident he will shine regardless. Since we do have premieres coming up with both Code and King, we’ll keep it brief. Don’t get underfoot when these lyrical madmen are stomping through! Think that is putting too much on it? Just wait until you hear their premieres. Lastly, it would be wrong of us to not tell you that Giallo Point kills the beat as usual. The combo of various string samples and a relaxed tempo provide the perfect setting for the murderous raps this trio spit. Real hip hop is alive and well in Mass! Press play to check it out.
