Kenna Land 2 Air Chronicles Cover Splash Can Caution Tape

Fans of Ethiopian-born, Virginia-based, producer Kenna can look forward to the release of the second installment of his LAND 2 AIR CHRONICLES II : IMITATION IS SUICIDE EP (via Dim Mak Records) tomorrow, Oct. 22nd*. In Chapter 1 of the series, which features Chad Hugo of The Neptunes on the production tip, Kenna took listeners on a winding, funky journey down a cosmic neon highway in pursuit of love. Tracks like “Wild Wild Life” set a mood that even Kenna himself addresses with lines like, “You think it’s dramatic, well I call it emphatic,” that touch on the overall feel and direction of the music itself.

Kenna Love Is Still Alive Heart Color

While L2AC II’s first chapter can be seen as the pursuit of love, it looks like Chapter 2–described by Kenna himself as “the heartbreak chapter”–showcases the pitfalls. Taking over the production for Chapter 2, Kenna aims to show the less beautiful side of love. With the release of the video for Chapter 2’s “Long Gone,” he takes over directorial duties and references the cinematic genius of legends like Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch and Christopher Nolan to show the more perilous and mysterious sides of love. With tracks like “Long Gone” and “Love Is Still Alive” Kenna provides a stark contrast to the energy and atmosphere of Chapter 1, a successful attempt at showing all facets of love.

Chapter 3, with production helmed by RJD2, is expected to be released 11/26. Fans can also look forward to Land 2 Air Chronicles III: Genius releasing in the first quarter of 2014.
