DAMN, Kendrick. More New Music?
Conspiracy theorists rejoice.
Kendrick Lamar is on pace to potentially have the biggest album debut of 2017 thus far, as DAMN. nears clinching RIAA Gold status in its first week. The majority of the 14 songs on the album—if not all, sans “Humble,’ which already made its record-setting debut—will likely see Hot 100 chart success beginning next week, when the new Billboard stats are revealed. It’s clearly been a successful run for Kenny’s third studio album, but as he revealed at a Compton album signing on Thursday afternoon, there’s more in store. Conspiracy theorists, hold on to your hats.
During the album signing, which went down at a Best Buy in Kendrick’s native city of Compton, California, Kendrick revealed via an Instagram Live video that he has “some more music.”

Yup, in the video clip above, Kendrick lends validity to conspiracy theories that have flown left and right since the April 14 release of his latest album, many of which suggest that Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. album isn’t the only project he has in his arsenal for 2017. While some far-reaching theories claimed to have proof that Kendrick was planning to go back-to-back on Easter, which was two days after DAMN. was released, a quiet Easter Sunday this past weekend quelled those murmurs.
The day DAMN. was released, Mass Appeal talked briefly with Kid Capri, the legendary DJ that helps pace Kendrick’s album with narration and scratching. Though Capri didn’t specifically reveal anything about Kendrick’s potential future plans, the New York native certainly hinted that DAMN. was just the tip of the iceberg. “I think they’ve got some more stuff—there are some more things—coming out later,” Capri told MA, as he recounted his experience meeting Kendrick in person as they mapped out DAMN. material. That wasn’t all Capri had to say, either. After revealing that there was a “gang” of stuff the duo recorded that didn’t make the album, he dropped this tidbit. “But it’s just the beginning. He only dropped ‘Humble.,’ and then he dropped the album. He’s got—it’s about to get crazy with that dude man.”
Whether or not Kendrick has another album coming, as his fans might hope, or he’s about to bless the internet with a string of Kung Fu Kenny loosies, we now know from the horse’s mouth that there’s more music coming.
