Kanye West Real Friends

Kanye West Drops “Real Friends”

After an excruciatingly long wait for SWISH, Kanye West’s trying to break the Internet with back-to-back new music drops. Last week’s tepid “Facts” caused plenty of speculation and retaliation from Nike supporters, but new track “Real Friends” takes a much more personal approach to his personal relationships at the height of fame. Like a retooled version of “Family Business,” Kanye raps “When was the last time I remembered a birthday / When was the last time I wasn’t in a hurry?” Assisted by Ty Dolla $ign, with sample work from Boi-1da and Frank Dukes, it’s a slower, melancholy song more along the lines of “Only One” than “Facts.” According to Kim Kardashian, this is one of many drops that will happen weekly, similar to the GOOD Friday campaign leading up to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

The track is great, but Kanye did one better, teasing a collab with Madlib and Kendrick Lamar entitled “No More Parties in LA.” It’s only a snippet, but following Kendrick’s blackout on Jimmy Fallon last night, it’ll be a landmark collab for two of the biggest rappers in the game. Stream the track and snippet below, as it’s been deleted from Kanye’s Soundcloud. UPDATE: Kanye is the ultimate troll and keeps re-uploading and deleting the track. Tech malfunction or elaborate marketing scheme? You decide. UPDATE 2: Up on Kanye’s site now and below:
