Jimmy Wopo Goes Hard With His ‘Back Against the Wall’

The last time we heard from Jimmy Wopo it was his first day out of lockup and he had some bars to get off his chest. We’ve been checking for the Pittsburgh spitter since he dropped that Jordan Kobe project, and we just had to peg him as an artist to watch this summer. Somehow—no matter how much adversity comes his way—Wopo keeps stepping up his game.

Today Wopo drops his new mixtape, Back Against the Wall, cementing his position as the man who put the steel in Iron City. With guest spots by Pittsburgh’s own Slumlord—checking in from the state pen, Back Against the Wall is one of the joints Wopo composed while behind bars. “I ain’t feel stressed out, bro, because I knew they couldn’t hold me for long,” Wopo explained soon after his release. “I ain’t catch no new case or nuttin’. And I had stuff to occupy my time. And plus before I went down, I was unsure what I wanted to do. I didn’t know if I wanted to accept the deal or not. I was so confused. It cleared my mind. I’m better at this point. It was cool for real, bro. I ain’t really stress it.” We should all be so cool under pressure.

You can stream Back Against the Wall now on Apple MusicSpotify, or Tidal. The choice is yours.
