Jemele Hill Told The Truth About Trump’s Racism, ESPN Disagreed

Does Donald Trump know that he’s a white supremacist? Probably not, but he is one, and ESPN Sports Center host Jemele Hill called him exactly that on Twitter earlier this week. Now ESPN is mad at her, and has publicly disagreed with the valid points that she made.

“Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists,” Hill wrote in the first of a series of tweets. She followed that up later, adding “Donald Trump is a bigot. Glad you could live with voting for him. I couldn’t because I cared about more than just myself.”

Get ’em!

Well, apparently this pissed off ESPN, whose viewership has been declining over recent years. It pissed them off so much that they felt the need to publicly condemn the remarks.

They issued a statement on Twitter:

Since Jemele made her comments, she’s been subject to copious amounts of online vitriol, which is sadly to be expected these days if you call shit like it is. And while Collin Kaepernick and other notable public figures have come out in support of her comments,  ESPN felt the need to condemn the poignant truths that she dared to tweet, and acknowledged that they gave her a “talking to.”

Why?

Nothing about her remarks was untrue, and journalists and reporters should be able to voice opposition to oppression on their Twitter feeds, despite what Politico thinks. Earlier this week the news outlet wrote about how they turn down potential job candidates because of partisan Twitter feeds, which is absurd. The notion that journalists and reporters, in any field of media, should have to censor themselves is absurd. Anyone in the House and the Senate who would ask for th e White House to publicly condemn and put efforts forward to fight white supremacist, Nazis and the KKK, but the White House has said that they don’t know if they will sign it.

On Fox News they brought on Lawrence Jones, a commentator for Glen Beck’s conservative outlet The Blaze, who said that Jemele should “stay in her lane.”

Got news for you, Lawrence, Jemele was in her lane. Where are you?

Here are the actual tweets that are causing such a furor:

Where’s the lie, ESPN?
