Out In These Streets: International Womens Day NYC
NO Pussy Grabbing!
Yesterday the internet was full of messages saluting women around the world—and so were the streets. It was all part of International Women’s Day, a global event that’s been observed since the 1900s but took on special significance this year. In NYC women—and men—of all backgrounds took to the streets to unite their voices against the forces that seek to roll back the wheels of progress. Organizers of the protest were among those who got arrested outside of Trump Tower.

But everywhere you looked women wearing red took up loudspeakers to call out Trump and all those aligned with his racist and sexist views.
“Say it loud say it clear / immigrants are welcome here”
“No hate, no fear / Refugees are welcome here”
One protester grabbed the mic to speak about her experience with abortion and how important it is to stay woke on this crucial issue. Another woman from South Africa shared her experience with apartheid, how she was refused education in her country and warned how important it is for everyone to do their part “you have the power, the power is in your vote.” Photos by @rgat
Reproductive rights were a major issue of discussion.
The march kept going all day and into the night, escorted by fleets of NYPD scooters just in case things got out of hand.
