Gil Scott-Heron “Alien (Hold On To Your Dreams)”

That’s right, you are not seeing things. Gil Scott-Heron has unreleased material that will see the light of day on April 19th, 2014 (Record Store Day). Stemming from the I’m New Here (his last musical offering released via XL before passing in away in 2011) sessions that took place in 2008, the project contains “an album’s worth of new, stripped down versions of some of Gil’s best (but not necessarily best known) songs,” according to XL’s head honcho, Richard Russell. The album will also feature personal notes from Russell, which highlights his time with Heron, as well as the recording process.
