PREMIERE: GiF The Great “Color Money”
“The beat has that energy that instantly put me in that ‘I gotta get to the bag no matter what’ mode”
GiF The Great takes the idea of laundering money quite literally in the video for his new song “Color Money.” GiF—one-half of the rap duo Par-City—hits up the ‘hood laundromat to cleanse his cash, a metaphor that relates to his latest release, Small Fortune 2.
“With this project, I chose to handle the theme of ‘getting money’ from a bunch of different angles… the desire for it, the feeling of success once you get it, the paranoia that sets in when you see people acting different around you,” says GiF. “The beat has that energy that instantly put me in that ‘I gotta get to the bag no matter what’ mode. That’s why you see me in the video late night rolling dice tryna get to it. I wanted to make a song that captured that energy.”
The Bronx rapper is clearly getting it in his MGF-directed flick, which features dryer drums full of greenbacks. The song appears on Small Fortune 2, the sequel to 2014’s Small Fortune.
