PREMIERE: Fly Anakin ft. Koncept Jack$on “Pep Boys” Video

Last week we premiered a track where Koncept Jack$on tore shit up. However, it actually only featured Koncept and was a Spectacular Diagnostics song off his new EP, 3UP. So, we’re going to call this premiere Mutant Academy’s proper debut on MASS APPEAL. This Virginia rap crew is full of young minds that are wide open, and Fly Anakin and Koncept are the team’s first wave. If you’re dialled in on this new generation of hardcore hip hop, you’ve probably already worn out the duo’s Chapel Drive tape from earlier this year. If not, you have something to look forward to after watching this vid.

“Pep Boys” is a song off Fly Anakin’s recent solo outing People Like Us that is produced by Ohbliv. It would not be an understatement to call this video jarring, bugged out, and a bit of a sensory overload, but that’s what makes it so dope. The two MCs are rapping in a forest setting, which may seem straightforward enough, but then we get overlays of heavily filtered versions of the same footage and occasionally their faces distort wildly. The visual assault matches the verbal assault. These dudes have got that unbridled energy and intellect. Like clever lyrics, but the content is street and unapologetic. We’ll stop trying to explain now and let the visuals show you who they are.
