DJ Manipulator and Louie Gonz

PREMIERE: DJ Manipulator & Louie Gonz “The Realization” ft. Mr. Pacheco

We always love when an artist we respect feels the need to put us on to another dope act they are associated with. It shows a certain depth of character when one wants the homie to get shine almost as much as they want it themselves. So, while we will be premiering something from Boston mic-blazer Haze very soon, today we are hipping you to a fresh duo that he introduced us to – DJ Manipulator & Louie Gonz. Having done an album with DJ Mainp a while back, Haze is very familiar with his skills behind the tables and boards alike.

DJ Manipulator and Louie Gonz  came up in the game together in a group called Kinda Dusty. That name alone should tell you what kind of hip-hop these dudes create. Once that group disbanded, these two continued their adventures in recording as a duo. The Autumn of 2014 saw the release of their debut project Private Stock, which quickly established them as makers of genuine hip-hop that heads can trust. It took them three years to follow up with their sophomore, The Loops, but it was well-worth the wait as the album is banging from start to finish.

Since the response to The Loops has been so positive, they decided to follow it up ASAP with “The Revelation.” This brand new cut is not on the album but sounds like it could have been. The almost ethereal soundscape is the perfect contrast to Louie and guest Mr. Pacheco’s hard bars. And the Big L scratch hook make us feel like the state of hip-hop is not nearly as bad as some would have you believe. If you can’t listen to this at work, make it the first thing you play when you turn your phone on at the end of the day.
