Orlando emo outfit Dikembe covers Frank Ocean's "Thinkin Bout You" and premieres it here at MASS APPEAL. It's the latest in their cover series.

PREMIERE: Dikembe “Thinkin Bout You” (Frank Ocean Cover)

Orlando emo outfit Dikembe is best known for their melodic, hard-hitting punk jams. But today we’ve been given something a bit out of their comfort zone with an interpretation of Frank Ocean‘s “Thinkin Bout You.” As ballsy as that sounds, their cover is sonically inventive enough to add something to the narrative. It’s the latest in their cover series that’s also included Shellac, Superdrag, and The Pixies.

“This song was waaaaay more difficult to record than we had previously anticipated,” frontman Steven Gray told us. “We’ve played this at a few shows to kill time, just because it’s a beautiful progression and it’s fun to sing. Turns out trying to match Frank is fucking impossible, so we had to use a lot of curve balls. I’m stoked on how it came out. Shout to David for like actually knowing how to play music.”

Hear their Frank Ocean cover below and check the group’s upcoming tour dates. On June 6, Dikembe will do their first tour in the U.K. with Other Half. Then you can catch them on a short East Coast tour with Prince Daddy & the Hyena, kicking off July 6 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
