Desiigner’s Gun Charge Has Been Dropped

Late on Thursday evening, Desiigner was arrested after an apparent road rage incident that involved allegations that the “Panda” rapper pointed a gun at an adjacent driver. The brief encounter didn’t escalate much further, but cops eventually tracked down the vehicle carrying Desiigner, and reportedly recovered a significant amount of pills stashed in the console. Desiigner was subsequently booked on gun and drug charges, though he would be released early on Saturday. You can tell how happy he was by this now viral video of him jovially waltzing out of custody as if he were leaving the strip club at sunrise after a long night of lining the floor with currency. He was ROR’d (released on his own Recognizance) and not forced to pay bail.

If he wasn’t happy enough in that moment, he’s got even more reason to celebrate today. According to this TMZ report, the gun charge that Desiigner was quickly slapped with on Friday has been dropped after his vehicle was searched thoroughly and no gun was recovered. The other driver’s accusation alone wasn’t enough to make the charge stick; the felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell was also dropped, but Desiigner isn’t completely clear of the incident just yet.

Desiigner still has charges of menacing–which is interesting, considering the menacing charge stemmed from the gun-waving allegation, which has been discredited with the dropping of the gun charge–and possession of a controlled substance to deal with, but his outlook certainly looks better with those two charges out the window. Desiigner is set to reappear in court on October 13th.
