De La Soul releases Smell The Da.I.S.Y. in random records stores around the world

De La Soul’s “Smell the D.A.I.S.Y.” Easter Egg Hunt

De La Soul (aka Plug One, Two, and Three) recently blew our minds by giving away their entire discography for FREE, followed by the release of the J Dilla produced Smell the D.A.I.S.Y. mixtape via BitTorrent. Now the group has planned the ultimate drop that falls in place with Easter (and 4/20 for the green-friendly folks).

The group placed 100 vinyl copies of the instrumental version of Smell the D.A.I.S.Y. in various record stores around the UK, Canada, and the United States. All of the production featured on the project was unreleased until De La blessed each track, and now you have your chance to go on a hunt for the instrumentals, which dropped April 18. De La Soul didn’t leave us hanging though, because they emailed hints of where to find the vinyl to fans, along with placing hints within pages on their website.

The bonus: each edition of the limited vinyl comes with an unreleased Dilla beat. Check out the trailer above to see the (quick) creation of the vinyl.
