Dave Chappelle Gets Real With David Letterman

Dave Chappelle had one of the funniest shows on Comedy Central but decided to walk away from it all in an unexpected turn of events. That was over 10 years ago.

Now, Chappelle has resurfaced to promote a small run of shows at Radio City Music Hall, and he took to Dave Letterman‘s show to do so. However, Letterman is not one to shy away from the hot topics, especially when it comes to the reason behind Dave Chappelle’s departure from his successful series. What asked by Letterman about his choice, Chappelle responded:

“I felt a variety of ways over the last ten years. Whenever there is something that I’d like to have that I could’ve afforded that I can’t now afford, well, then I’m upset about it. But then when I see a guy going to a job that’s time-consuming and he doesn’t have the free time to do things that I get to do, then I feel good about it.”

Chappelle also spoke about the importance of Nas’ Illmatic, and gives information about their upcoming show at Radio City Music Hall on June 23. Check out Dave Chappelle’s full interview with David Letterman in the player above.
