Dave Chappelle Continues to Meet the Press

After years away from television, veteran comedian Dave Chappelle is back.

Chappelle will be making his triumphant return to televised stand-up tomorrow night with two Netflix standup specials. (A third is on the way at an unknown date.) In the ten-minute interview above, he promotes them by opening up to CBS This Morning‘s  Gayle King about his rise to fame, his decision to leave Chapelle’s Show and why he’s ready to be funny on TV again. He also talks about why him putting on 40 pounds is actually a good thing

The usually press adverse Chappelle has participated in several interviews during the past few weeks, he’s even appeared in a town hall meeting in his home of Yellow Springs, Ohio. Overall he seems calm, focused and ready for the world.

In the candid interview, Chappelle reveals how he got his start, sneaking into clubs to perform when he was only 14 years old. He even recalls the introduction he got the first time he was ever brought on stage: “You know folks, everybody starts somewhere, and tonight this young man is trying standup comedy for the first time and who knows we may be witnessing the birth of a star…please welcome Dave Ch-apple!”

Welcome back Dave!
