Chance The Rapper and Young Thug Reunite For “Big B’s”
Chance celebrates ‘saving’ Soundcloud with the new collab
Soundcloud was one of the biggest stories in music this week, and for good reason. The extremely popular and accessible music streaming platform, which provides paid and free models for users, was reportedly in danger of going under. Artists, some of whom were discovered on Soundcloud—Chance The Rapper among them—expressed empathy for the platform and its users, hoping that a flurry of last minute moves could keep the company afloat. Late Friday, with the apparent help of Chance, the company was able to announce that its internet doors would remain open, and to commemorate that, the Chicago rapper returned to the platform that helped him blow up four years ago. Below, you can stream Young Thug’s new track, “Big B’s,” featuring Chance The Rapper—a Soundcloud exclusive.
Just how much of its new lease on life Soundcloud owes Chance The Rapper hasn’t yet been disclosed. But there’s no debating that having a large-scale music star so heavily invested in the cause was a positive. For years Chance has remained involved with Soundcloud, performing a show in collaboration with the service last year and streaming Coloring Book there after its Apple Music exclusivity ran its course.
The bouncy cut opens and closes with entertaining Young Thug performances, which sandwich a verse from Chance that grows from a casual bop to a breathless sprint in tempo at the blink of an eye as the rappers mirror their gymnastics from “Mixtape,” the Coloring Book standout they collaborated on. To boot, at least for now, the track is a Soundcloud exclusive, a final helping hand to the streaming service Chance and others worked diligently to save this week.
Don’t even think about looking for it on Spotify. Stream “Big B’s” above.
