New ‘Call Of Duty: WWII’ Trailer Reminds Us of the Game’s Glory Days

Yesterday at Sony’s E3 press briefing, Activision shared a new multiplayer trailer for one of the most highly anticipated Call of Duty games in a minute, Call of Duty: WWII. Simply put, it reminded us why we used to flip out over this game when we were in middle school.

The trailer gives us a quick peek at of some of the beautifully designed World War II-themed maps and burners that we will expect in this series. It also shows some of that running and gunning gameplay that it’s known for, as well as some booming killstreaks. The trailer evokes the early COD games that we grew up with, like 2008’s World at War.

It is exciting to finally see Call of Duty return with a game that doesn’t have any of that crazy, 2065, outer space, jetpack boosting, future soldier bullshit going down. Straight facts is that Call of Duty has been complete trash since they started wilding out with the future military concept with 2014’s Advanced Warfare. I was like 18 when that game came out and it made me feel senile because I didn’t understand how the fuck to play it anymore.

Probably because of the success of the WWI-themed Battlefield 1, Activision has woken up and realized that none of us want exoskeleton soldiers and all that nonsense.

For those who own a Playstation, a private beta of Call of Duty: WWII will be available on August 25 for those who preorder a copy of the game.

Now COD‘s next goal should be rereleasing Modern Warfare 2, which everyone agrees is the best goddamn Call of Duty game of all time.
