Cadenza ft. Avelino and Assassin “No Drama” Video

Along with producers like Kaytranada and collectives like Flow Fli, London’s Cadenza can’t be held to one genre classification for mere convenience. One day he might be sampling baile funk, the next he’s giving you minimal, hard hitting tracks like “No Drama.”

For the music video, director Pussykrew sets female dancers as the focal point, while the three artists are presented as 3D scans and melded into distorted, digitally-created environments. The dark overtones are meant to symbolize a rebirth for anyone who’s going through a tough time. Similar to Batman rising out of the cave that Bane was raised in, use the darkness surrounding you to center yourself and rise up. Cadenza explains that he reached out to Avelino and Assassin to speak to his own dual cultural background–half British and half Jamaican. Just remember that, “You don’t want no drama / Rude boy don’t trust in karma.”

“No Drama” comes off of Cadenza’s No Drama EP via The Full Hundred/Columbia Records. You can purchase No Drama on iTunes. For those in London, he will be performing at Village Underground on June 7th.
