Blac Youngsta and Lil Yachty Medicate Aging Rappers in “Hip Hopper” Video
Joe Budden about to explode
Earlier this year in February, Blac Youngsta and Lil Yachty released a banging, Mike Will Made-It–produced track, “Hip Hopper.” It was certainly one of the catchiest rap songs to come out this year and now it has the incredibly funny music video it always deserved.
Youngsta and Yachty took a shot at the older generation by setting the music video in a fictional “Hip Hoppers Retirement Home,” which was supposedly established in 1990. (Shout out to Morales & Baker.) Inside the home, Yachty and Youngsta are surrounded by geriatric rappers rocking ’80s and ’90s hip hop gear. The two rappers run through the home even passing aides giving these old heads pills and life support. It’s a great metaphor for the generational debate that’s been raging within hip hop and it stays true to Lil Yachty’s humorous take on the rap game.
During a visit to MASS APPEAL just yesterday, Youngsta described Yachty as “a cool dude, he got a good soul. I sent him this track and he did his part right away. He said it was a hit. He didn’t have to say that but he did. I appreciate that.”
With over 12.2 million plays on Soundcloud, Yachty’s prediction has come true. The song is truly is a hit—and now it has a video that will make Joe Budden scream.
