ASAP Rocky is the Official New York Fashion Week Killa

asap rocky hba show

Rappers like fashion and fashion likes rappers, that much isn’t new. But recently, many artists have gone from mere passing voyeurs of fashion – fronting from behind the watchful eye of some savvy stylist – to legitimate players in the couture game.

While, it was Kanye – with his Celine blouse at Coachella and leather-skirt-gate – that started critics watching and guessing, it seems that ASAP Rocky has dethroned (pun intended) the seasoned, fashion veteran to become the new golden boy of style. Rocky has long articulated not only his love of fashion, but also his knowledge of the industry to the masses. Copious lyrical references and numerous fashion spreads (Vogue Homme Japan) and covers (Jalouse) have cemented his couture credentials.

The past few days at New York Fashion Week saw Rocky catapulted into a fully-fledged fashion icon. Jetting back from Paris where he attended the Dior Couture show, ASAP Rocky braved the snow – in weather inappropriate apparel of course – to sit front and center at Y-3, Alexander Wang and Public House. He finished the week by continuing to rep one of his favorite labels, Hood By Air, closing the show for his long time friend, Shayne Olivier .

Watching or riding the runway, ASAP Rocky is fashion’s next killa.
