Get An Exclusive Look at Darryl Makes Comics’ DMC #2

If you’ve been living under a rock that doesn’t have Wi-Fi, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels launched a publishing company, Darryl Makes Comics, and comic book featuring himself as a hip hop superhero last fall. Now Darryl Makes Comics is back with DMC #2, once again bringing together an incredible cadre of talent to make it happen. Today, we’re unveiling the official and variant covers of DMC #2. We chopped it up with DMC and a few of the artists involved to find out how these amazing covers came together.

Mass Appeal: Two years into publishing comic books, what do you feel you’ve learned and accomplished?

DMC: I’ve learned that you have to produce a respectable product that is done with integrity and concern for the issues and circumstances that speak for the audience. Also, it’s a lot of hard brainstorming work! With the trend of diversity in comic books, how do you feel about your books and the new characters you’re introducing? We don’t create the characters to be on the diversity bandwagon, from the beginning our universe reflects the universe we have been living in. Tell us about your team and how it is to work with them. I am blessed to have Edgardo and Riggs! They are truthful and have a vision beyond anyone I’ve ever worked with in art, publishing or music! They are passionate and care about creating innovative and universally appealing characters and stories. We are like The Holy Trinity or Three The Hard Way! We speak, and it is. And they refuse to put out fake shit. Our goal is to give artists, writers, inkers, pencilers, colorists, and graffiti artists opportunities to create with their gifts in a universe that will touch generations forever, just like Marvel and DC.
