Album Rewind: M.I.A., Princess Nokia, Michael Christmas, and More

A short work week is always welcomed by us. But somehow it felt like this week was as busy as any other five day week. G.O.O.D. Music made some key announcements (one unplanned), we got the inside scoop on photographing Tupac’s infamous middle fingers up picture, we released our very excellent De La Soul documentary, and the iPhone 7 upset everyone in the world. But let’s get back to the music so you can catch up on some new albums.

Princess Nokia 1992

When to listen: You want some of that early ’90s New York attitude coming straight from today’s youth. Also you miss that Heatmakerz production.

Michael Christmas and Prefuse 73 Lady Parts

When to listen: You remember how much you hate putting labels on music and would much rather just let it sink in. Non traditional hip hop at its best.

K. Roosevelt Neon Haze

When to listen: You’re dead set on achieving your lofty goals but need something calm to listen to as you plan out the next steps.

Quick Piss Rock ‘n’ Roll Impotence

When to listen: You think pop and punk can live harmoniously together. Also when you need a swift kick in the ass to wake up in the morning.

When to listen: You realize that being a citizen of the world is too restrictive for your diverse tastes and universal love for humanity. Also when you can’t take the news anymore and want a fresh perspective on someone on the ground.

When to listen: You’re headed to a rave and need to get in the right mood with some heavy, heavy, heavy beats.
