PREMIERE: Al Divino’s ‘Dump Gawd: Divino Edition’ Album

The Dump Gawd series is some limited edition shit. It is not a crew, per se, but instead a series that is tied together by its closed circle of contributors. Tha God Fahim seems to be the mastermind behind the idea and so far he has dropped 6 installments (if you include Dump Legend 1 and 2). Fahim’s partner-in-crime Mach-Hommy was the second MC to get to dumping and he was followed closely by Heem Stogied. At first, the releases were selling for the usual price you would expect to pay for a digital download or a limited CD. However, those prices started to increase early this year. It seemed steep when Fahim was charging $50 for certain limited CDs but after a beef with Daupe Media (whose release can sell for up to $1000 on the secondary market), the young MC started jacking his prices to $77.77 and $111.11. And eventually, he raised the cost to $1000 for any of his albums…even for digital. Then, all of a sudden, Mach followed suit.

Now, that we’ve got the background of the series out of the way, you can be properly thankful for what we are giving you here today. Al Divino is only the fourth rapper to ascend to the status of Dump Gawd and even though he is not charging the exorbitant amount of $1000, it is still going to run you $44.44 just for unlimited streaming and MP3s of Dump Gawd: Divino Edition. We will say two things about that: 1) This album is easily worth $44.44; and 2) If you don’t believe us, Divino has granted y’all 12 hours to stream the album for free, only through MASS APPEAL!

Why do we think 11 songs are worth almost $50? Simply put, this MC/producer has got that gray coke. He has the kind of gruff voice that’s made to spit that ill East coast slang and his bars are ridiculous. On “Luchini Luciano” he raps: “Stacking feddy steadfast/ mafioso mind state, all I know is, get the cash / invest with intelligence, let it flip ten fold / let the tech go / your heartbeat turn to techno / Luchini Luciano / cut you up just like an Eggo.” The production is handled by the next gen of beat-architects like Camouflage Monk, Theolonius Martin, and Sadhu Gold. There’s a cohesive sound here and the best way I can describe it is, precious metal mined from milk crates.

This Lawrence, MA native has produced for the likes of B.E.N.N.Y. (Gri$elda), Tha God Fahim, Hus Kingpin, SmooVth, and Big Twins, and he just recently dropped a dope instrumental album titled 24KCaskets (that one goes for $66.66). He has also rocked the mic with Mach, Fahim, Meechy Elcamino, Fly Anakin, and he was even a member of #TheWinners for a time. I could say more, but I’m only taking away from your streaming time, yo!
