Y-3 Taps the Clarks Wallabee for Inspiration on the Hayex Low
These aren't your grandfather's Clarks though.
Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 collection continues to innovate design through the art of footwear.
The latest offering from the upcoming Fall 2014 adidas collection sees the introduction of the Hayex Low. The shoe draws heavy inspiration from the Clarks Wallabee silhouette, as evident in the structure of the toe box and wood-grain paneling on the midsole, which is reminiscent of the Wallabee’s classic crepe sole.
The Hayex Low combines a plethora of materials and crafty color blocking. Its upper is comprised of leather side paneling, suede toe-box, and mesh paneling along the heel tab. Capping off the new silhouette is a plastic/rubber midsole and speckled laces. Although Y-3 tapped the Wallabee for inspiration, they certainly came correct and brought their own futuristic flair to the concept.
The Y-3 Hayex Low is set to hit retailers later this summer ahead of the Fall 2014 collection.
